Weekly message 12-6-2020

Happy Sunday (even though it is almost over, and for some of you it is already Monday)!

I hope you are all doing well and St. Nicholas left some treats in your shoes (yes, that really is a tradition in some countries).  And for those of you celebrating Hanukkah, happy Hanukkah!

The participation question was due on Sunday night - if you forgot, just send me an email and I will reopen it.

On Monday we will continue the unit on residual management (which we will likely finish on Wednesday).

On Tuesday, Chloe Grabowski, Assistant Project Manager with HDR, will speak with us from Missoula, MT about the treatment of mining wastes. We'll meet with her from 10:30-11:30 am (Michigan time). Chloe is a 2012 ENE graduate.

On Friday, we will have our last lecture of the semester. Scott Devries, City Engineer for Williamston, MI will speak with us about a recent study completed on their plant to consider various options for the much-needed expansion.

Most of the grades have been posted (except for the sorption homework). Please check your grades and let me know if you believe that anything is missing.

The IX and membrane filtration assignments are due this Wednesday at 11:59 pm.

Tutorial 4 and the tutorial extra credit assignment are due Friday, December 11 at 11:59 pm.  If you need the 72-hr grace period for any of the assignments due this week, just let me know.

Finally, MiniDesign 3 is due on December 17th at 11:59 pm. Because of grades being due, it will be harder to give you the 72-hr grace period for this. However, if you need an extra day, please let me know.

And finally don't forget to check out the jobs/internship post on the course blog: https://ene483fall2020.blogspot.com

All the best,

Dr. Masten
