Happy Sunday, I hope you all have been having a great week and are remaining healthy. It's been a long one, but I was able to get in a few really nice walks (my way of decompressing and destressing; I hope you all have found productive ways to do the same). I thought you might like these photos from the Children's and Healing Gardens on campus. On Monday, we will continue the Lime-Soda ash problem that we began on Friday. If you weren't "in class" on Friday, it would be good to watch the YouTube video before class on Monday. On Tuesday, I will give an overview of the FE and PE exams and then we'll talk about the Mini-Design Project. Both sets of PowerPoint slides will be posted on LON-CAPA. On Wednesday, we will finish the unit on Lime Soda ash softening by discussing water stabilization. If you have a chance, it would be beneficial to watch these short virtual water treatment plant tours: Ames, Iowa ; Plainfield Charter Township, Michigan .If we have time...

Are you registered to vote?

Hi all, The most sacred right that we as Americans have is the ability to vote! It is an act that many actually died for; yes, died for. It is an act that wasn't freely given - but was fought long and hard for. It is an act that many still fight for and other yearn for.  Protest to support the women's suffrage movement in the US For those of you that are legally afforded the right to vote in the US, I urge you to do so. I will honor all requests for accommodations to vote on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, as ENE 483 tutorial and ENE 480 Section 2 meets that afternoon. The lecture will be recorded in the morning and as will the afternoon lecture. Students can also attend Thursday's lab section.  In Michigan, these are important dates.  Please take note of them. The deadline to register online to vote is Monday, October 19, 2020. The deadline for registering by mail to vote is (postmarked by) Monday, October 19, 2020. The deadline to register in person to vote is Tuesday...

Happy Saturday,  I hope all of you are doing well and even took the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful fall day. A few reminders:  RFQ Assignment and Participation Question are both due Sunday Sept. 20 at 11:59 pm. Note: one team member should submit the response for the entire team.  Homework on Mass Balance is due Wednesday Sept 23 at 11:59 pm  I had not scheduled office hours but said I would be available by appointment: just email me or send your questions by email. With the homework due, I decided it would be best to hold scheduled office hours this week: Monday and Wednesday from 4-5 pm. The Zoom link is in my weekly email message.  While not required for class, I thought some of you might be interested in EPA’s Small Drinking Water Systems Webinar on Wildfires and Resulting Impacts to Water Bodies Used as Drinking Water. This webinar will be held on Tuesday, September 29th from 2:00-3:00 ET, with an optional Q&A session from 3:00-3:30pm ET. To reg...

Happy Sunday, The second participation question is due this evening at 11:59 pm. First week announcements

Greetings, I hope all of you had a good first half-week of classes. I re-recorded this morning's lecture and have posted it both on YouTube and in my Google drive. Links are on LON-CAPA. The participation question opened on Friday morning and you have until Sunday at 11:59 pm to submit your answer. As always, if you don't want to answer the question, feel free to tell me whatever you wish. I'll finish the lecture on Water Plant Design Considerations and we'll continue the example regarding Brighton, MI. Please review the Design Process lecture (link is posted on LON-CAPA).
